Nutriswap is ground breaking new app which allows users who are searching for a healthier new diet plan to find a diet that is fit especially for them, find recipes, and interact with other health conscious people all within a single app. Nutriswap caters to all types of people with all types of eating habits by providing healthy alternatives or just keeping them on track with their current regimen.
There will be four options to help narrow down which lifestyle you are aiming for: Vegan, Vegetarian, Pescatarian, and Omnivore. There will also be an option to customize or select your own which could be a mix of these or a combination of two or more.
After you choose your lifestyle you will then be able to enter your current diet. You can choose what foods you currently eat but would like to swap out for something leaner, healthier and/or cruelty free depending on the lifestyle you chose.
Users will then be exposed to an array of alternatives that will help them to kick- start their new lifestyle. This feature will allow them to swap out their current diet to something that better suits their goals. For example if you are an Omnivore, someone that eats food of both plant and animal origin, but would like to change your lifestyle status to Vegan, someone who does not eat or use animal products, you can find healthy and cruelty free alternatives.
You will be able to click through a list and/or search for the foods you eat everyday and find something that is similar in its health benefits for example, if you are an omnivore transitioning to vegan, you will probably ask your self the age old question, Where do I get my protein from? So if you enter your current source of protein as Chicken you will then be given a list of protein alternatives for vegans.
Users can also share tips and ideas for recipes through the user profiles.
Each user profile will have their name, lifestyle status, location brief bio and recent posts. Users will be able to post photos of their meals, how to videos of their recipe process as well as interact with people who share the same lifestyle status as them to provide a sense of motivation and stay connected with their community.
The idea for Nutriswap came from my personal journey. I have always wanted to become a vegetarian since I was young. When I was about 8 years old I told myself that when I turn 21 I would become a vegetarian. So I have been trying my best to make that transition. My journey started after I took a one-week trial of only eating fruits and vegetables and I felt great after. I was less stressed, more energized and I just felt better over all. Of course the first couple days were kind of hard but after that I became used to it. It felt natural.
But I think the main thing that holds people back from this transition is not knowing where to start or what foods to eat. Also, some people don’t want to give up their favorite foods. I can relate to that completely. That’s why I really put thought in to what I prepare. It’s all about flavor for me. I cannot have food without flavor, which is what a lot of people see vegetarian/vegan food being. They think it’s boring and flavorless. But it’s all about how you prepare it that makes you not even miss having meat. My diet is mostly vegan right now but I will occasionally have seafood here and there so some would say I am a pescatarian. My goal is to become 100% vegan. So I created this app to reach out to others like me that are on some type of journey. I didn’t want to narrow it down to just being a vegan app because everyone is different. This is why I have options for meat-eaters as well. So if you eat beef but would like to swap beef for a healthier/leaner meat you will be exposed to various alternative meats and unique recipes especially for you.
